The Board of Trustees of Albertus Magnus College has elected Tabitha Wazorko Manafort to serve a three-year term as one of two Alumni Trustees on the Board.

The Plainville High baseball team receives honors June 16 from the Plainville Town Council in recognition of the team’s Class M State Championship. Councilman Robert Ciotto read a proclamation congratulating the team on their accomplishment. Council Chairman Christopher Wazorko said the team not only won the Class M title, but also finished first in the final state poll, which included all teams in Connecticut, regardless of size. Residents again rejected a proposed combined schools and general government budget of $52.9 million in Tuesday's all-day budget vote - 469 to 275 - with some officials predicting that to make more adjustments, services taxpayers have come to expect are likely to be eliminated.

Longtime school board member Thomas L. Wazorko, 61, - who died Tuesday after a battle with pancreatic cancer - was remembered by family, friends, associates and officials as a champion of education and the local school system he served from 1984 until his death. He was the husband of MaryEllen Fillo Wazorko.

The Town Council, after hearing from the Recycling and Solid Waste Commission about the pros and cons of Plainville adopting automated trash pickup, said the financial benefits are not automatic and asked for more detailed figures of any projected savings.
