Police plan DUI checkpoint for Fourth of July
With the start of summer, the Plainville Police will be out in force removing impaired drivers from the streets. DUI checkpoints and DUI patrols will be conducted throughout the summer as part of the State of Connecticut Expanded DUI Enforcement Program.
During the upcoming Fourth of July weekend, two officers will be on DUI patrol every night targeting impaired drivers and underage drinking. In addition, on Saturday, July 5, a DUI sobriety checkpoint will be conducted on State Route 372.
The Plainville Police remain committed to zero tolerance policy on dunk drivers. "No one wants to deal with a serious or fatal car crash during the holidays. By increasing our enforcement we have seen a reduction in fatal and serious injury crashes on our streets. The public can assist us in our efforts by reporting drunk drivers," said Police Sgt. Charles Smedick in a statement. "Have a safe summer."
